Friendship is one of the few most wonderful relationships that we find on this earth. There would not be any person living or dead who can say that he/she has never ever had a single friend in his/her entire lifespan. Every single human being understands the importance of good friends. But the amusing part about true friendship is that you never know who is really a best friend until you apply that famous saying ‘A friend is need is a friend indeed’ in your life. Many people use this golden rule to test how strong their friendship actually is. So, is it the only way to find out who exactly our best friend is and who deserves our blind faith and trust? It could be a case that our so-called friend, who once helped us when we were in need in order to help his own self, accidentally, ended up helping us.

The opinions may differ but the fact is that sometimes even the sayings of the wise men don’t prove to be 100% true. This famous saying is no different as the saying itself involves a sense of expectation, which is definitely not a good sign for a true friendship.

The obstacle that comes in way of establishing a reliable relationship is that we have huge expectations. Why take chances to test whether your friend is loyal or not and what is the need to expect that your companion would help you out whenever you shall be in any sort of problem? Just remember one thing that people have many other important things to do then wasting their precious time on helping a loser.

A true friend is the one who instead of helping you out, lets you help yourself. It is true that a best friend comes when everyone walks out, but sometimes he comes to make fun of the loser within you. Thus, the saying is not a sure-shot formula to find out if the person who we think is our friend is actually our best friend or it was just by chance he helped us when we were in need! We often compare Best friends with God, so if we have to follow any saying then it should be ‘God helps those who help themselves’.
